ABOUT LE’KESHA HOWARD

Le’Kesha Howard has been hosting community events around the Bay for more than 20 years. Her organization, Kesh Cares, has a clear mission: to meet underserved communities where they live, play and hangout. A successful pop-up organizer, Le’Kesha brings food, diapers and essential hygiene products to those who need them most, with a special focus on women: mothers, grandmothers, aunts, nieces and daughters. “To support the family and the community,” Le’Kesha says, “you have to support the women.”

ABOUT CITIZEN FILM AND BLACK ENTREPRENEURSHIP

Many black entrepreneurs in the Bay are committed to creating spaces that keep dollars in their neighborhoods and lift up their communities. Sharing powerful, authentic stories of these entrepreneurs’ work—their dreaming, striving, overcoming challenges and celebrating achievements—is essential to supporting their successes and to manifesting a collective, community-centered vision.

With the support of our partners at San Francisco’s Office of Economic and Workforce Development and The Dream Keeper Initiative, Citizen Film collaborates with Black business owners to tell their stories in creative ways that make a community-building impact.
