October 23-25, a gold-painted shipping container — Shared_Studios’ TimesSquare_Portal — showcased five outdoor video loops on Broadway Plaza. Meanwhile, inside the shipping container, short films were shown, followed by live chats. Thousands of people on Broadway Plaza viewed the outdoor video loops and approximately 100 individuals stepped inside the shipping container for commuter-hour live-chats with project contributors.

GOLDEN MAGIC SHOES

Meet Zander Berkeley Liberty, the man with the “golden magic shoes.” Jewish Family and Community Services East Bay recently helped Zander resettle in the Bay Area, after he had to flee his home country of Uganda because he is gay. In the TimesSquare_Portal, Zander video-chatted live with audiences on Broadway Plaza to discuss his experience as a refugee and as a co-curator of a multimedia exhibit showcasing the perspectives of young refugees.
