ABOUT MERCEDES JACKSON
Mercedes Jackson is the Founder and Executive Director of The You Verse Project, a nonprofit organization focused on providing emotional wellness for the youth through self-management workshops, meditation, interactive gaming, and mindful learning. The You Verse Project was awarded a Shine On grant in the Fall of 2023. Mercedes has focused her efforts with Citizen Film on the next upgrade to her website, including new media and dynamic graphics. In addition, Mercedes has completed her first 990 non-profit tax return and built an accounting system that her organization can rely on for years to come.

Many black entrepreneurs in the Bay are committed to creating spaces that keep dollars in their neighborhoods and lift up their communities. Sharing powerful, authentic stories of these entrepreneurs’ work—their dreaming, striving, overcoming challenges and celebrating achievements—is essential to supporting their successes and to manifesting a collective, community-centered vision.
With the support of our partners at San Francisco’s Office of Economic and Workforce Development and The Dream Keeper Initiative, Citizen Film collaborates with Black business owners to tell their stories in creative ways that make a community-building impact.
