ABOUT VETERANS ALLEY
The San Francisco Veterans Mural Project (Veterans Alley), a community based mural project in San Francisco’s Tenderloin District, positions U.S. military veterans as the keepers of their own stories. Over 30,000 sq. feet of public facing walls in an alley, murals created by veterans themselves create a constant dialogue with the community about the reality of war and the military experience.
ABOUT NARRATIVE SHIFT
With support from the Dream Keeper Initiative and the Human Rights Commission, Narrative Shift lifts up unseen, untold stories from San Francisco’s Black community—people and organizations too often mis- or underrepresented in mainstream news and storytelling. The suite of projects includes video diaries, short films, dance and theater projects and more. Narrative Shift puts storytelling tools (filming, recording, interviewing, etc) directly in the hands of those from communities most directly impacted by historic and cultural exclusion.
