ABOUT UNDER THEIR SKIN
This work-in-progress feature documentary follows grandchildren of Holocaust survivors who have made the controversial decision to tattoo their grandparents’ concentration camp numbers on their own bodies. Their bold tribute raises questions about the reenactment of trauma, transforming pain into healing, and how historical remembrance can counter the rise of hate and intolerance today.
Excerpts from Under Their Skin are featured in the Passover exhibition What We Carry with Us co-curated by refugees and descendants, presented by the Jewish Community Center San Francisco.
