In 2008, Edmundo Hidalgo visited nonprofits across the country to gain insight on their successes and develop his leadership skills in order to benefit his organization, Chicanos Por La Causa. “If you don’t invest time in yourself, how can you envision what your organization is going to be? If you don’t dream…then you’re stuck in the same place.”

The Piper Fellows program acknowledges the never-ceasing demands of nonprofit leadership and offers opportunities for nonprofit leaders to reach, retool, and revitalize. Each year, the Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust offers up to six fellowship awards to support professional development for outstanding leaders of nonprofit organizations serving Maricopa County.
