ABOUT AMERICAN CREED: CITIZEN POWER
In 2018, the PBS program American Creed wrestled with the question: what does it mean to be American? Stanford University professors David M. Kennedy and Condoleezza Rice came together from their different perspectives to explore what it means to realize America’s promise.
Now, a new American Creed PBS documentary series and a companion series of short films and curricular activities disseminated by PBSLearningMedia gathers together a diverse cohort of young leaders: “extraordinary, ordinary” citizens take on what they see as the most urgent challenges facing their communities and our Democracy.
Each 30 minute episode for PBS will interweave the stories of young adults discovering their power to take action. Kennedy and Rice, whose recent scholarship explores the uneven march towards democracy, will facilitate on-camera dialogues between these young leaders to illuminate ways forward.
